The size of the fibroid is a very important factor. UAE is not very effective in treating fibroids that are 20-weeks’ size or larger. The smaller fibroids respond much better. Also, the type of fibroid you have is a significant consideration for this treatment option.
Some patients may be allergic to the dyes or contrast media used in UAE. These groups of patients are not candidates for UAE.
